Junior Youth Fellowship

Junior Methodist Youth Fellowship (JMYF)

The Junior Methodist Youth Fellowship (JYMF) at Goodwood Methodist Church is a new fellowship group that started in the year 2018. The JMYF is open to all youths in Year 7 to Year 12 of schooling (Age 13 – 17 years old). Heeding Christ’s teaching for Christians to be the “salt and light of this world” (Matthew 5:13-16), the JMYF focuses on developing youth spiritual leaders, to nurture young people for life-giving ministries and to empower youths to be powerful and relevant disciples of Christ in this ever changing and challenging world. This aligns with Goodwood Methodist Church’s three areas of focus: – (i) building up families, (ii) discipleship, and (iii) missions and evangelism.

At JMYF, we believe that young people are important members of Christ’s body that can positively influence the current and future communities that we live in. We are Christ’s legacies on earth, as reflected in Paul’s letter to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in faith and in purity.”

The JMYF meets every Saturday at the church annex hall, from 7pm to 8:30pm. During our meetings, we participate in worship, Bible Study, games, refreshments, and fellowship. The JMYF also participates in a variety of service and recreational activities, such as Christmas, Easter, Parent Sunday, church anniversary celebrations, bowling, laser tag, surfing, badminton and many more.
